Privacy policy

Last updated September 14, 2026

This policy is a detailed product template and should be reviewed against the data-protection laws in each country served, including controller identity, lawful bases, cross-border transfer mechanisms, local representative details, and statutory response timelines.

1. Scope and controller

Job Connect Africa is a Nigerian-founded service serving users internationally. Complete the legal entity name, Nigerian registered address, privacy contact, and any required local representative before launch. The applicable controller or processor role can vary by feature, including when an employer directs processing of applicant data.

2. Nigeria and international privacy frameworks

We assess processing under Nigeria’s Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and applicable regulations, while recognizing that additional rules may apply based on a person’s location, including the GDPR/UK GDPR, UK Data Protection Act, Kenya Data Protection Act, South Africa POPIA, Ghana’s Data Protection Act, California privacy law, and other local frameworks. Local rights, response timelines, complaint routes, and representative requirements may differ.

3. International transfers

Personal information may be stored or accessed in Nigeria and other countries where our providers operate. Where required, we use an adequacy decision, contractual safeguards, consent, or another lawful transfer mechanism, and provide additional information about safeguards on request.

4. Scope and controller

This Privacy Policy explains how Job Connect Africa handles personal information when you browse the platform, create an account, build a profile, apply for a role, publish opportunities, contact support, or interact with our communications. The legal entity responsible for processing depends on the service and operating market; update this page with the correct entity and contact details before launch.

2. Information we collect

We may collect identity and contact information such as name, email, phone number, location, account credentials, and organisation details; professional information such as CVs, skills, qualifications, work history, portfolio links, preferences, and application messages; employer information such as company profile, role details, application instructions, and billing contacts; and communications, support requests, feedback, and reports.

3. Information collected automatically

When you use the service, we may receive device, browser, IP address, approximate location, language, timestamps, pages viewed, referral information, crash data, and interaction information. Cookies and similar technologies may help us keep sessions secure, remember preferences, measure performance, and detect abuse. See the Cookies Policy for details.

4. How we use information

We use information to provide accounts and profiles, publish and search opportunities, route applications, communicate about the service, respond to support requests, personalise relevant content, improve reliability and accessibility, prevent fraud and abuse, protect security, comply with law, enforce agreements, process payments where applicable, and create aggregated or de-identified insights.

5. Legal bases

Where applicable, we process information because it is necessary to perform a contract, to take steps at your request before a contract, to comply with a legal obligation, for legitimate interests such as security and service improvement, or with your consent. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it, although withdrawal does not affect prior lawful processing.

6. Applications and employer sharing

When you apply through the platform, information necessary to process the application may be shared with the relevant employer and service providers supporting delivery. If you select an external employer portal, you leave our platform and the employer or portal may collect information under its own notice. We do not control employer hiring practices, retention periods, or decisions.

7. AI-assisted features

We may process role inputs and other permitted business content to generate draft summaries, responsibilities, requirements, benefits, or recommendations. AI-generated output is reviewed and controlled by authorised users before publication. Do not enter sensitive personal information, passwords, confidential business secrets, or information about another person unless you have a lawful basis and permission to do so.

8. Service providers and transfers

We may use carefully selected providers for hosting, authentication, database services, file storage, email, analytics, security, customer support, payments, and AI processing. Providers process information under contracts and instructions. Information may be processed in countries other than where you live; where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

9. Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described here, including account operation, applications, legal obligations, dispute resolution, security, and backup recovery. Retention varies by information type and whether an account or employer relationship remains active. We may retain limited records after deletion where legally required or needed to prevent abuse.

10. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organisational safeguards appropriate to the risk, such as access controls, secure authentication, encryption in transit, logging, backups, and monitoring. No internet service is completely secure. Notify us promptly if you believe an account or application has been compromised.

11. Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal information, and to withdraw consent or complain to a supervisory authority. You can update profile information through the service or contact hello@jobconnect.africa. We may need to verify your identity and lawful exceptions may apply.

12. Children

The platform is not intended for children who cannot lawfully use employment services. Do not submit information about a child unless legally authorised. If you believe a child has provided information improperly, contact us so we can investigate and delete it where appropriate.

13. Changes and contact

We may update this policy as our services, technology, or legal obligations change. The updated date will change and, where required, we will provide additional notice. Questions, requests, and privacy complaints can be sent to hello@jobconnect.africa.
